ADHI VAIDYANATHA SWAMY TEMPLE, MANNIPALLAM
Aadhi
vaidhyanathsamy temple is in Mannipallam (மண்ணிப்பள்ளம்) which is about 5 kms
from Vaitheeswaran Koil. Buses going to
Kumbakonam via Manalmedu from Vaitheeswaran Koil also touch Mannipallam and Thirupungur. However, the frequency is less and hence an
Autorickshaw will help you to see both Mannipallam and Thirupungur temples and
they charge Rs.200/- presently and wait at both the places.
Aadhi
Vaithyanathasamy temple was existing and was not maintained well with people
around misusing the place until the local people joined together to revive its
past glory. Though the work started
around 15 years back, the Kumbabhishekam was done only in the year 2013.
The main entrance to the temple, though close to the main road is through a narrow lane while the temple
premises is adequately big.
The
temple has separate sannidhis for Adhi Vaidyanathar and Thaiyalnayaki. Lord Ganesha, Subramanyar and Dhanvanthri
also installed around the main deity in the compound. Surya and Chandran and Bhairavar vigrahas are
placed in a thatched roof outside. The
temple after the Kumbabhishekam draws devottees and the temple pooja starts
only at 11 AM as shri Paramanathan (Ph: 9444526253) who deos the pooja, does his personal duties early morning and then attends to this
temp;le. He is nearby this temple only
and said he would open the temple when necessary. The temple is maintained by a Trust.
The sannidhi of Adhi Vaidhyanathaswamy faces east and Thaiyalnayaki south. Vinayagar is in Southwest corner and adjacent to him is the sannidhi of Dhanvanthri and Subramanya. Suryan, Chandran and Bhairavar vigrahas are kept in a thatched roof opposite to the main deity's sannidhi after Nandhi.
There are no shops to cater pooja materials nearby and it is better to get them from Vaitheeswaran Koil.
