The Urchavar, Dasabuju anjaneyar is in the temple precincts and at the side of the moolavar Sree Varadaraja perumal with Sridevi and Bhoodevi.   The urchavar here is the Rajagopalaswamy with Rukmani and Sathyabama and thus the moolavar and urchavar perumal are similar to the Mannargudi temple.  Thayar here also is known as Chengamala Thayar and the sannidhi for her is in the outside Prakara at the Southwest corner.  Anjaneyar Moolavar sannidhi is outside of the entrance to the Pmerumal temple and he is facing North and also known as Chathurbuja anjaneyar.

Sree Varadaraja Perumal with consorts Sridevi and Bhoodevi is facing East and by the side facing South is the Dasabuja Trinetra Anjaneyar.  It is said that he had come here immediately after the destruction of the Asuras and he is seen here with Dasabuja and also wings similar to Garuda.   He has the following in his hands:

Chankam, Chakram, Soolam, Kabaalam, Mazhu, Paasam, Bow, Arrow, Rope and Navaneetham.

After the end of the war and killing Ravana in the war, Seetha Matha was rescued, Sree Rama, Seetha, Lakshmana and Hanuman were returning in Pushpaka Vimana to Ayodhya.  On the way, they stopped at the Bharathwaja Maharishi Ashram and had fo od.  Narada who came there greeted Sree Rama and the Maharishi told Rama that though Ravana was defeated and killed, there were still some Asuras.  Among them were Irakthabindhu and Iraktharakshasan, who were doing thapas under the sea and if their thapas succeeds then they would destroy the world.  Hence Sree Rama should destroy them too.   Sree Rama said that they should also be eliminated and as he had to be in Ayodhya as told to Bharatha, he would entrust the destruction of the rest of the Asuras to Anjaneya.  As the Asuras   were Mayavis, Vishnu gave the Chank and Chakra to Hanuman, Brahma the Brahmakapala, Ruthran the Mazhu and Sree Ram the Bow and Arrow.  Indra gave the Vajrayutha.  With all those, Anjaneya was seen with 10 hands and Garuda gave his wings.  When Lord Siva arrived there, he saw Anjaneya like that and for his part, he gave his third eye.  With the above weapons, Anjaneya went under the sea and killed Irakthabindu and Iraktharakshasan.    Anjaneya after the killing of asuras started to see Rama at Ayodhya.  On the way he saw the beautiful place along the shore and stayed there and was happy and that place came to be known as Ananthamangalam. (ஆனந்தமங்கலம்).

It is believed, Ananthamangalam Sree Varadarajaperumal temple dates after the period of Azhwars.  The Rajagopalaswamy temple at Mannargudi is also called as Kulothunga Chozha Vinnagaram after the Kulothunga Chozhan the first.  Many have built similar temple at different places.  During the period of Vijayanagara Samrajyam, one of the chieftains built the Rajagopalaswamy temple at Ananthamangalam.  This temple follows the Thenkalai traditions and Pancharaathra Agamam.  (The temple authorities can be contacted at the phone number: 04364-289888 and the email is - tajapuja@sanchamet.in )
